Veterinary Extern - General Practice
Animal Care Hospital of Williams Lake
Job Description
An externship experience is an unpaid educational experience. NVA hospitals will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, we all have some things in common: an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.
If you're a veterinary student looking for a thriving, inclusive, supportive veterinary team committed to providing excellent & compassionate care to their patients and with decades of experience mentoring veterinary students, Animal Care Hospital of Williams Lake may be what you're looking for!
Our full service, progressive, multi-doctor hospital offers a collaborative and positive team environment. From pocket pets to horses, cattle, exotics and wildlife, our mixed animal hospital is very well equipped to provide care for All Creatures Great & Small! Doctors are encouraged to develop their unique veterinary interests which enables them to offer clients a wide array of services including: orthopedics, artificial insemination, obstetrics, internal medicine, urgent & critical care, and dentistry to name a few. Our mission is to provide the best quality veterinary care for our patients & clients that we can, every time.
We have a genuine heart for our veterinary profession and for mentoring future veterinarians! We warmly welcome your interest in our hospital and any questions you may have.
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Veterinary students in their second, third, fourth or clinical years are encouraged to apply.
At NVA Canada diversity and inclusion are an important part of our everyday reality.
We are committed to fostering an open and inclusive environment where everyone belongs, our people feel comfortable and confident to be themselves and reach their full potential regardless of age, race, national or ethnic origin, gender identity or expression, marital and family status, religion or other belief, culture, sexual orientation, or disability.
