Job Description

We're a small 1.5 DVM practice. Small animal GP, with the occasional exotic seen by our PT DVM. We have two highly trained and skilled technicians. Our clients love us because we are a small practice that takes their time, and we keep the same staff year after year. Culture is very important to us, and we pride ourselves on having a good time while maintaining a high quality of medicine. Our primary DVM is an OSU graduate, Class of 2018, and our ADVM is an OSU graduate, with an MBA and is also Fear Free Certified.
 
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.  
 
Most externship experiences at Southern Hills Veterinary Hospital range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
