Veterinary Extern - General Practice
AMC Kingsville
Job Description
About Our Hospital:
Located just 40 minutes south of Corpus Christi, AMC Kingsville is a well-established, multi-doctor mixed animal practice, with the vast majority of our caseload consisting of small animals. Our modern facility includes advanced diagnostic tools such as digital X-rays, ultrasound, and in-house Idexx labs. With nearly 50 years of service, our collaborative team is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care.
While we are equipped to treat both small and large animals, our current large animal caseload is limited. Students should expect a predominantly small animal experience, with occasional exposure to large animal cases depending on the week.
Externship Details:
Externs will work closely with our veterinarians to gain experience in:
- Physical exams and diagnostics.
- Surgical procedures and dentistry services.
- Treatment plans and medical management.
- Client communication and teamwork.
Externships typically range from 2 to 8 weeks and offer exposure to primarily small animal medicine, with a sprinkle of large animals.
Stipend:
We offer up to a $1,500 stipend to help with travel and living expenses for clinical year externs. Click HERE to view list of stipend amounts and HERE for details on the stipend program.
