Located just west of Austin in the scenic Hill Country, Dripping Springs Animal Hospital is a well-established small animal practice committed to high-quality, compassionate care. Our clinic offers veterinary students the chance to experience real-world general practice medicine in a setting that balances busy caseloads with personalized mentorship and team support.

Externship Overview:
Externs at Dripping Springs Animal Hospital will gain meaningful, hands-on experience in:

  • Conducting physical exams and taking patient histories

  • Developing diagnostic and treatment plans

  • Performing or assisting with surgical and dental procedures

  • Participating in diagnostics and medical case management

  • Practicing client communication and collaboration with staff

  • Gaining insight into daily clinic operations and workflow

Externs will work closely with our associate veterinarians, who are dedicated to student growth and clinical skill development. You won’t just observe—you’ll actively participate in patient care in a supportive and educational environment.

Program Details:
📍 Location: Dripping Springs, TX (20 minutes from Austin)
🕒 Duration: minimum of 2 weeks, up to 4 weeks, depending on student/hospital availability
🎓 Open to: 3rd- and 4th-year veterinary students
💵 Stipend: Up to $1,500 for eligible clinical-year students
