Travis Country Veterinary Hospital, a thriving general practice in the heart of Austin, TX, offers an exceptional externship experience designed for veterinary students in their 3rd or 4th year. We’re part of the NVA (National Veterinary Associates) network—committed to supporting learning, mentorship, and top-tier patient care.

🔍 What You’ll Gain:

  • Hands-On Clinical Training: Practice gathering histories, conducting exams, performing diagnostics, assisting with dentistry, and managing inpatient care.

  • Surgical Exposure: Observe and assist in routine surgeries; opportunities to perform procedures under supervision based on readiness.

  • Real-World Experience: Engage in medical decision-making, treatment planning, and collaborative rounds with experienced DVMs.

  • Communication Development: Practice client conversations and work alongside our supportive veterinary team.

📅 Externship Overview:

  • Length: minimum 2 weeks, up to 4 weeks (flexible depending on your academic schedule)

  • Stipend: $2,500 travel/living expense stipend for clinical year students

  • Who Can Apply: 3rd and 4th year veterinary students currently enrolled in a DVM program
