Veterinary Extern - Specialty

SAGE - Concord

Job Description

Applicants must be fourth-year students of accredited domestic or international veterinary schools, pursuing a DVM, VMD, or foreign equivalent.

Although every Ethos hospital is unique, we all have some things in common: an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.

At SAGE - Concord we have a very collegial and collaborative team. Our ERCC and Specialty services all work closely together to provide the best of referral patient care.

An externship experience at an Ethos Specialty Hospital gives students real-life clinical experience in a single or multi-specialty hospital, and the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills while working alongside experienced clinicians and board-certified specialists. Hands-on skills that may be practiced or observed include TPR’s, examinations, anesthesia, surgical procedures, catheterization, ultrasound, and other diagnostic procedures as they are available.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at SAGE Veterinary Centers - Concord are only offered to students in their final clinical year. Externships may be available in the following specialties:
  • Anesthesiology
  • ER/Emergency and Critical Care
  • Internal Medicine
  • Neurology
  • Oncology
  • Ophthalmology

Ethos Veterinary Health, part of the NVA Group, is where you come to practice world-class medicine, and help shape what veterinary care becomes next.
Across our network of 140 specialty and emergency hospitals, science moves forward, standards are elevated, and innovation is put into practice every day. You’ll work alongside respected veterinary leaders in academic-caliber hospitals designed for learning, teaching, and discovery.
Here, mentorship is a two-way street. You’ll share your expertise, learn from others, and continue to grow, clinically, professionally, and personally.

At Ethos, you inspire hope, deliver exceptional care, and pursue veterinary medicine at its highest level, together.

Benefits for this role may include health insurance (medical, dental, vision), retirement benefits, paid time off (including sick leave and vacation), short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance.
