Job Description
Applicants must be fourth-year students of accredited domestic or international veterinary schools, pursuing a DVM, VMD, or foreign equivalent.
Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital of Wichita is excited to offer externships to fourth-year veterinary students. Work in our newly built, state-of-the-art facility, experience Wichita’s only 24/7 emergency service, and learn from our board-certified surgery and dentistry specialists. Our student externs participate in a high caseload and can hone their clinical and communication skills in a real-world setting.
Program Overview:
We will customize your externship length and weekly schedule to your interests, department schedule and needs, and your school’s requirements. After an initial orientation and hospital tour, you’ll meet with your assigned DVM mentor to discuss your goals and current skill level. Then, you will be involved in a high caseload with some client interaction. VESH plans to expand and add more specialties, but we currently offer the following departments:
- Emergency
- Surgery
- Dentistry
- Limited radiology
