Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist
Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency
Job Description
Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency (CASE) — Veterinary Internal Medicine
Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency (CASE) is seeking a Veterinary Internist to join our team in Boulder, Colorado.
This isn't a position for someone who wants to put their head down and stay in their lane. Internal medicine at CASE is the connective tissue of everything we do — the discipline that ties the diagnostic puzzle together, advocates for the whole patient, and keeps everyone else honest. If you love a challenge, thrive on complexity, and get genuinely excited when a case stops making sense, you'll fit right in.
About CASE
CASE is a 52,000 sq ft specialty and 24-hour emergency hospital in Boulder, Colorado, dedicated to dogs, cats, and the people who love them. Our mission is to preserve and enhance the human-animal bond through innovative medicine, strong community partnerships, and relationships with clients built on trust and transparency.
Internal medicine sits at the center of our hospital — closely integrated with emergency and critical care, diagnostic imaging, oncology, anesthesia, and surgery. Our specialists don't just co-exist; they genuinely collaborate. Cases get talked through in hallways, over lunch, and in formal case rounds. We believe good medicine is a team sport, and internal medicine is often the one calling the plays.
As part of the Ethos network, CASE offers optional involvement in clinical trials, research initiatives, and cross-hospital collaboration — while preserving real autonomy in your day-to-day clinical life.
The Role
As our Internist, you will:
- Provide advanced diagnostic and medical care across a broad spectrum of internal medicine cases — GI, endocrine, respiratory, urinary, hematologic, infectious disease, and beyond
- Serve as a key diagnostic and consultative resource for the emergency and critical care teams
- Collaborate with oncology, surgery, and imaging on complex, multidisciplinary cases
- Participate in case rounds, journal club, and longitudinal patient management
- Mentor and support an engaged, curious technical team that genuinely wants to learn
- Help shape the continued growth of internal medicine services at CASE
Our hospital is built to support the kind of medicine you want to practice:
- Advanced diagnostic imaging — CT, MRI, digital radiography, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound
- Endoscopy suite and minimally invasive diagnostic capabilities
- In-house laboratory with robust diagnostic support
- Highly trained nursing staff who take pride in their patients
Compensation & Support
This position offers a competitive salary range of $200,000–$225,000 base, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your professional development and long-term career satisfaction. Relocation assistance available.
Why Boulder?
Boulder is the kind of place that makes it genuinely hard to have a bad day off. The Flatirons are in your backyard. World-class hiking, cycling, skiing, and climbing are minutes away. The food scene is outstanding, the community is welcoming, and the schools are excellent. It's one of those rare places where building a career and building a life feel like the same project.
