Veterinary Medical Oncologist

Pet Emergency Treatment

Job Description

Medical Oncologist Opportunity – Anchorage, Alaska
Pet Emergency Treatment (PET) in Anchorage, AK is seeking a skilled Medical Oncologist (residency trained or board certified) to join our dedicated team in delivering the highest quality medicine at our well-equipped, AAHA-accredited hospital. This is a rare opportunity in a market with little competition, allowing you to make a significant impact right away.

Our hospital is home to the only boarded Internist in the state of Alaska and a team of five experienced ER veterinarians, along with a growing group of skilled technicians and support staff. PET provides 24-hour emergency care to pets in Anchorage and remote Alaskan communities, but this position is firmly situated within our specialty services. While the hospital offers emergency care, oncology at PET is supported by an established specialty team. Our internist currently manages a solid oncology caseload and is eager to collaborate with a Medical Oncologist who is passionate about advancing cancer care. This is not a role where you’ll need to build from the ground up—cases are already here, and you’ll be supported every step of the way.

In addition to emergency and specialty services, we offer in-house dentistry, further enhancing your ability to deliver comprehensive care in a collaborative environment. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with hospital leadership on scheduling, equipment selection, and shaping the future of oncology services in the state.

We offer a competitive salary with production and no negative accrual, ensuring your earning potential is protected. Our benefits package includes health insurance, 401k, continuing education support, paid vacation, and generous discounts for your personal pets. A sign-on or relocation bonus is also available, and we welcome both full-time and part-time candidates.

Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city and home to 41% of the state’s population. Named one of the 10 Best U.S. Cities by Outside Magazine, it’s a vibrant hub of culture and adventure. Whether you’re exploring local art exhibits, enjoying craft breweries and restaurants, or hitting the trails for hiking, biking, skiing, or running, Anchorage offers something for everyone. Downhill skiing and snowboarding are just 45 minutes away at Alyeska Resort, while world-class fishing, camping, and exploring await on the Kenai Peninsula and in nearby Denali National Park.

If you’re a Medical Oncologist looking to practice meaningful, advanced medicine in one of the most breathtaking places in the country, we want to hear from you. You'll be challenged, supported, and valued—professionally and personally.
