Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

·         Radiology/ultrasound set up, positioning, image capture

·         Assisting with surgical procedures and providing safe anesthesia and sedation

·         Assisting with Dental treatments, performing Dental radiographs, prophy, polish, dental charting,etc

·         Obtaining blood, urine and other laboratory samples and tests

·         Communicating in kind and approachable tone with Staff Members

·         Charting and maintenance of medical records

·         Professional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptoms, including post-operative care and discharges

·         Surgical assisting; preparing and maintaining the surgical environment in order to ensure an asepsis environment for both patient and personal safety.

·         Anesthesia monitoring and endotracheal intubation

·         Pharmacy and pharmacology knowledge including: preparing and dispensing medications, recognizing adverse reactions

·         Perform basic recovery procedures including extubating and vital monitoring and assessing pain levels for patients

·         Routine cleaning of equipment, reporting any malfunctions

·         Maintain surgical suite and equipment/supplies to maximize function and efficiency

·         Provide primary assistant to support DVM’s

·         Assist in monitoring compliance with OSHA, DEA, and FDA requirements. 

 Position Requirements:

        High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education, and/or experience

        One - two years of experience with veterinary appointments performing above duties

        Experience in surgery is required

        Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion

        Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends
