The veterinary technician/Assistant position at the JRAH is a crucial position in the organization. The veterinary technician/assistant does all of the tedious but important work for the Doctors in the exam area in the hospital. The veterinary technician/assistant position requires a pleasant and cheerful personality due to the enormous contact with clients. This position also requires a great deal of attention to detail in cleanliness and sterilization in the hospital and thorough knowledge of basic animal care, obedience, and preventative care. This position collects all of the necessary information for the Doctors regarding the patient. Veterinary technicians/assistant also assist the Doctors in the exam rooms, process some lab work, and take basic care of all hospitalized patients in the hospital ward. Receiving/discharging clients
Communicates necessary information to Doctors
Completes patient file notes
Answers questions about care and prevention
Animal nail trimming
Handing out new puppy and kitten packets
Filling prescriptions
Drawing blood
Processing lab work
Assisting Doctors and Veterinary Technicians
Some heavy lifting
Cleaning up after animals, floors, cages, runs, bathing
Feeding and watering animals
Giving medications
Monitor anesthesia
Perform dental procedures
Inserts tracheal tubes
Additional responsibilities and projects will be added
