Equine Ambulatory Veterinary Technician – Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center
Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a reliable and hardworking Equine Ambulatory Veterinary Technician to join our team. This position works closely with our ambulatory veterinarian, assisting with on-farm calls and providing high-quality care to equine patients in a dynamic, field-based setting.
Schedule:
- 4-day work week
- Rotating surgical on-call shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the veterinarian during ambulatory farm calls
- Safely handle and restrain horses during exams and procedures
- Prepare, maintain, and operate medical equipment in the field
- Set up for procedures and ensure efficiency during farm visits
- Stock and restock the ambulatory truck with necessary supplies and medications
- Drive the veterinary truck to and from appointments as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle and equipment
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members
- Maintain accurate medical records
Qualifications:
- Horse handling experience is a must
- Previous equine experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Comfortable driving a truck and working in a field setting
- Ability to lift and handle equipment and work outdoors in various conditions
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while supporting a team
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
