We are open Monday- Friday 7AM -5:00PM and ranked the top 3 veterinary clinics in Yuma, AZ. We are a small animal general practice that focuses on preventative care and the treatment of sick of pets.

JOB SUMMARY

The Veterinary Technician works hand-in-hand with veterinarians to ensure quality patient care, and to aid the doctors in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work.  The Veterinary Technician assists in multiple procedures providing care for animals including physical examinations, dental procedures, surgeries, immunizations, euthanasia as well as client education. Technicians may also see their own appointments for procedures such as suture removal, nail trim, injection administration when a doctor exam is not required, labwork, surgery admission and discharge, and boarding entrance exams. This position requires a working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, common diseases; their symptoms, means of transmission, treatment and prevention, and other basic preventative health care recommendations. 

QUALIFCATIONS

·         2 years+ working as a veterinary technician.

·         High School Diploma or G.E.D

·         Must have experience with dental cleanings, dental radiographs, and surgical anesthesia.

·         Effectively use low stress patient handling techniques and safely control aggressive animals.

·         Superior blood collection and IV catheter placement skills.

·         Excellent communication skills with doctors, clients and team members.

·         Detailed oriented person that can make good decisions, respond quickly.

·         Must have basic computer knowledge 60-80 WPM, and scanning records. Avimark a plus!

·         Pass background screen and drug test.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         Must be able to lift up 40 pounds and/or assist in lifting over pounds.

·         Able to be active: sitting, walking, standing for 8 hours or more a day.

·         Able to work well under pressure and at high levels of stress.

·         Flexible with work hours.
