Position Overview:  

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary care, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with animals. This role involves a variety of responsibilities that are crucial to the daily operations of our hospital, ensuring the well-being of our patients and providing support to our veterinarians.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

- Patient Care: Assist veterinarians with patient exams, including restraining animals, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for surgery.

- Surgical Assistance: Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, monitor anesthesia, and assist during surgeries.

- Laboratory Work: Perform diagnostic tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams. Collect samples and ensure accurate record-keeping.

- Client Communication: Educate pet owners on proper care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive health measures. Address any client concerns with professionalism and empathy.

- Pharmacy Duties: Prepare and dispense medications as prescribed by the veterinarian, ensuring accurate dosage and labeling.

- Medical Records: Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including updating medical histories and documenting treatments.

- Emergency Care: Assist in emergency situations, providing immediate care and stabilizing patients until the veterinarian can attend to them.

- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical equipment and ensure the clinic is well-stocked with necessary supplies.

 

Qualifications:  

- Education: Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program.

- Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician, preferably in a small animal clinic.

- Certification: Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT) is preferred but not required.

- Skills: Proficiency in animal restraint, laboratory procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and surgical assistance. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Personal Attributes: Compassionate, patient, and able to work well in a team environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

Working Conditions: 

- Full-time position with varying shifts, including some weekends and holidays.

- Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and handle animals of varying sizes and temperaments.
