At Animal Clinic of Farmers Branch, we are a fast paced, tech driven, 4-doctor practice in Farmers Branch, TX seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Our state of the art facility includes a full in house laboratory, digital radiology and digital dental radiology. Our mission is to improve the comfort and well-being of our patients by providing progressive and compassionate veterinary care at an affordable cost.

Job Description

The Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant is the primary support to our doctors and patients. The Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant must be able to communicate well with clients while showing care and concern for their pets. They begin the process by bringing the client to the room for examination and continue to assist the doctor through the examination, diagnosis and treatment phases. Ideal Candidate:

  •  Experienced Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant
  •  Skilled in surgical assisting, anesthetic monitoring, dental prophylaxis,  dental radiographs.
  •  Comfortable speaking to client’s different scenarios: obtaining an accurate and history to present to the doctor, discussing prescribed medications, discussing treatment plans and reviewing discharge instructions. 
  •  Proficient in venipuncture, injection (SQ, IM, IV), IV catheter placement
  •  Comfortable reading in house cytologies and urinalysis. 
  •  Reliable, trustworthy, compassionate, patient and organized. 
  •  Finds importance and value in creating a positive relationship and experience for the clients and patients. 
  •  Willing to work on call emergency shifts as need
  •  Experience working with Cornerstone is a plus. 
  •  Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol
  •  Support veterinarians in procedures using accurate restraint and know how to restrain fractious patients
  •  Maintain and use equipment such as IDEXX Procycte/CatalystOne
  •  Take radiographs, with knowledge of accurate positioning and techniques
  •  Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse and respiration
  •  Complete anal glands, ear cleanings and nail trims

 

Qualifications

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         1+ years of experience

·         Must have knowledge of veterinary terminology, supplies and procedures

·         Confident in your skillset and readiness to learn what you don’t know already

·         Must be bright, friendly and effective communicator in order to communicate client, doctors and team members

·         Professional appearance requires; scrubs are worn at all times

·         Work well independently and in a group setting
