Veterinary Technician/Nurse-Oncology Team

Our practice is actively hiring a Registered, Certified or Licensed Veterinary Technician! Signing bonus offered for RVT/LVT/CVT!

Our oncology team is looking for an outstanding Veterinary Nurse! Oncology team members work side-by-side with our board certified Veterinary Oncologists treating cancers like osteosarcoma, lymphoma, melanoma, and many more. They are responsible for many aspects of patient care including taking detailed histories, phlebotomy and IV catheter placement, chemotherapy infusions, and record keeping. The right candidate will have an eye for detail and follow through and enjoy creating a bond with patients and clients. AVIMO prides itself with offering exceptional oncology care to our patients and exceeding chemotherapy safety standards.

You will use your communication and problem-solving skills combined with your clinical knowledge to be a passionate patient advocate. You will be responsible for excellent client and patient care, client education, safe and low stress pet restraint, maintaining hospital cleanliness, running in-house lab work, and assisting with appointments and anesthetic procedures.

AVIM&O is a highly specialized internal medicine & oncology practice with three locations in central Maryland: Annapolis, Hunt Valley, and Columbia. Our practices are co-located within Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center, and we provide best in class veterinary medical care for patients with chronic conditions like Addison’s, Cushings, gastrointestinal issues, renal failure, cancer, and more.

Additionally, our nurses and assistants work hand in hand with our veterinary specialists to communicate with clients, referring veterinary practices, and pharmacies. You should have a high level understanding of drug calculations and prescription calculations and be prepared to assist owners with refills and medication questions. You should have experience taking detailed patient histories and providing pertinent information to the attending veterinarian – understanding the prioritization of clinical information is a highly valued trait. Many of our patients are chronically ill, geriatric or acutely ill, so proper restraint and compassionate advocacy must be a part of your skillset. Successful candidates will be excellent and timely verbal and written communicators – our patients and clients depend on it.

Our practice regularly utilizes the following specialized procedures including ultrasonography, endoscopy, colonoscopy and rhinoscopy scoping, chemotherapy administration, advanced nursing and hospitalization techniques and much more! AVIM&O also has access to advanced imaging such as MRI and CT.

Pay: $19.00 - $27.00 per hour
