Veterinary Technician - Surgical

Big Sky Animal Medical Center is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our surgical team. This role is pivotal in assisting our veterinary surgeons during operations and ensuring the highest level of care for our animal patients during their recovery.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinary surgeons with surgeries and medical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are prepared and available.
  • Monitor patient vital signs during surgeries and provide post-surgical care, including administering medication, wound care, and other treatments as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to develop and implement pre-surgical preparation and post-operative recovery plans.
  • Educate pet owners on surgical procedures, post-operative care, and overall health maintenance.
  • Maintain detailed records of surgeries, patient responses, and progress throughout the recovery process.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent qualification is essential.
  • Experience in a veterinary surgical setting is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Proficiency in the use and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with pet owners, veterinary surgeons, and the veterinary care team.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and some weekends.
