A dynamic three-doctor veterinary clinic in downtown Fairhope, Alabama, is looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented veterinary technician. We are committed to delivering top-notch veterinary care and exceptional client service. The ideal candidate should have a strong sense of compassion for animals, excellent communication skills, and a friendly, cooperative attitude when working with a team. Colony Animal Clinic is well-equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, an in-house lab, and laser therapy.

 

Responsibilities:

 

- Obtain and document patient histories.

- Communicate with and educate pet owners on procedures, products, and recommended preventative healthcare.

- Dispense and administer medications, vaccines, serums, and treatments as directed by veterinarians.

- Perform laboratory duties including collecting specimens (blood, urine, fecal, etc.) and analyzing results.

- Administer and monitor anesthesia as directed by a veterinarian.

- Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgery.

- Carry out routine dental cleanings.

- Take radiographs.

- Clean, maintain, and sterilize equipment, instruments, and materials.

- Place IV catheters.

- Assist the veterinarian in various procedures.

- Enter information into the computer software system.

- Collaborate effectively with all team members and ensure actions align with the hospital's, doctors', and practice philosophy.

- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.

- Ability to communicate and handle high-stress situations while maintaining professionalism.

- Use safe restraining techniques on patients.

 

Education:

 

- High school diploma or GED required.

 

Qualifications:

 

- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic.

- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) qualifications are a plus.

- Must be able to work 10-hour shifts.

- Computer skills are necessary.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Knowledge of commonly used veterinary terminology.

- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

 

Our clinic is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Technicians and assistants must also rotate on weekends and holidays to care for our boarding and hospitalized patients during non-business hours.

 

Salary is based on experience.
