Job Overview
Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital is a close-knit, team-oriented, AAHA-accredited small animal practice looking for a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to animals, assisting veterinarians in various procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the veterinary clinic. This role requires a strong understanding of animal physiology and the ability to handle a variety of species. Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform diagnostic tests, including X-rays and laboratory work.
- Maintain aseptic technique during surgical procedures.
- Anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal vital signs and provide critical care when necessary.
- Handle and restrain animals safely for examinations and treatments.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and dental hygiene.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic's facilities and equipment.
Skills
- Proficient in aseptic technique to prevent infection during procedures.
- Knowledgeable in X-ray procedures and interpretation.
- Strong understanding of animal physiology and anatomy.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures relevant to veterinary medicine.
- Knowledge of dental terminology related to animal care.
- Excellent dog handling skills, ensuring safety for both the animal and staff.
- Ability to provide veterinary critical care in emergency situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with pet owners and team members.
- Experience with Avimark software (a plus, but not required)
