Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and veterinary practices, demonstrating proficiency in various technical skills essential for the well-being of our patients. This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality care and support to both animals and their owners in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed.
- Conduct animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Provide client education on pet care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Monitor animal vital signs and behavior pre- and post-surgery.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including surgical areas.
- Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
- Handle animals with care, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
Qualifications
- Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred; kennel experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures related to animal dental care.
- Experience in veterinary critical care is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to veterinary medicine.
- Experience with equine handling is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong skills in dog handling, training, grooming, and catheterization are preferred.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
