Black Dog Veterinary Services in beautiful Bozeman, MT is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, team-oriented veterinary technician (certification preferred but not required DOE) to join our team. We are open to either full-time or part-time. We are a progressive small animal veterinary hospital that offers advanced surgeries, dental procedures and innovative medical treatments in traditional medicine and alternative options. Come to a place where you can see and do it all! No weekends, no after hours, and a four-day work week (full-time)! Candidate must have surgery and anesthesia experience. 

Job Summary:

The veterinary technician will work side by side with our DVM’s. We rely heavily on our technicians for patient care and utilize them to the full extent of their abilities and licensure. A suitable candidate for this position will be intelligent, kind, compassionate, and a professional with a passion for veterinary medicine. We are seeking an experienced technician to help monitor anesthesia, perform dental cleanings, assist in surgery, and perform tech exams along with other tasks. Licensure is preferred but not required depending on experience.

Duties:

  • Acquire detailed history and patients
  • Obtain TPR
  • Handling and restraint of patients for exams and procedures
  • Practice Fear Free techniques
  • Phlebotomy
  • Medication administration through different routes (IV, IM, SQ, etc.)
  • Maintain appearance of hospital
  • Ability to lift heavy objects over 40 pounds
  • Ability to take diagnostic radiographs
  • Monitor anesthesia
  • Perform dental cleanings and dental radiographs
  • Assist in surgery as needed
  • Laboratory sample collection
  • Fill prescriptions
  • Assist other employees when needed

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician. Credentials preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology.
  • Proficiency in animal handling techniques.
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in veterinary medicine.
  • Ability to perform X-ray imaging safely and effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
  • Compassionate attitude towards animals and their care needs.
