Job Description

Back Bay Veterinary Clinic is currently seeking a Surgical Veterinary Technician to join our team. Our practice is focused and committed to exceptional quality veterinary medicine, client education and customer service. Qualifying candidates must be able to perform the following:

  • Admit patients scheduled for surgery and dentistry
  • Prepare instruments and know types of surgical instruments required for specific surgeries
  • Prepare gown and surgical packs
  • Prepare surgery suite for surgery
  • Prepare instruments; know type of surgical instruments required for specific surgeries
  • Surgical preparation of patient
  • Anesthesia monitoring and maintenance of anesthesia machines
  • Intubation
  • IV catheter placement
  • Drug calculations
  • Assist veterinarian performing surgery
  • Monitor patients waking up from anesthesia
  • CPR
  • Cleaning and scaling of teeth
  • Transcription of prescriptions
  • Gathering an appropriate medical history
  • Excellent client communication skills
  • Sample collection
  • Dental and Body radiographic positioning
  • Outstanding computer skills for electronic medical records

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, possess interpersonal skills to develop long standing relationships with co-workers and clients alike. You must also display an innate capacity to provide attentive care to companion animals. Compensation is based on level of experience and certification
