Veterinary Medical Oncologist

SAGE - Concord

Job Description

SAGE Veterinary Center in Concord, California is looking for a dynamic medical oncologist to join our growing team. As the primary medical oncologist, you will have the ability to collaborate with specialists on staff, including surgeons, Internists, criticalists, and anesthesiologists. Our hospital has a strong team of veterinary nurses that are ready to support our new medical oncologist. Our team implements fear-free principles throughout our hospital.

Our hospital is a 25,000 sq foot facility with 18,000 of those square feet dedicated to clinical space. We have an on-site MRI, 16 slice CT machine, a c-arm, and a fully equipped ICU with several oxygen cages. Our hospital has 3 ultrasound rooms and 6 operating rooms. We also have a cat-only ward in the ICU. We also offer an integrative medicine service that works closely with oncology to support patients and focus on diminishing the side effects of traditional chemotherapy. Our integrative medicine specialist has over 20 years of experience and focuses on acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and chiropractic care to manage these patients. We also offer electrochemotherapy which is a lower-cost modality that offers treatment options when radiation therapy is not possible. We have access to stereotactic radiation treatment in one of our sister SAGE locations as well.

Our hospital design is unique and was built with collaboration in mind. Each floor has a central doctor workstation that makes case collaboration very easy. There are large windows that overlook the treatment room to allow our doctors can monitor patients easily. The hospital was also designed with a lot of windows so there is natural light throughout. We have a large oncology suite with a chemo hood and a separate room for chemo administration.

It is located about 3 hours from Lake Tahoe and close to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Walnut Creek is the next town over which offers great entertainment, shopping, and restaurant options.
