Pet+ER is currently seeking a full-time Veterinary Hospitalist to join its successful, growing team at its brand-new, 50,000 sq ft Hunt Valley, MD location that opened in June 2023! 


This person will work with the emergency team, assisting in the intake and management of hospitalized emergency patients, creating and recommending treatment plans, maintaining and updating medical records and facilitating transfers to the appropriate specialty service as needed.


The ideal candidate will be internship-trained and have at least six years of professional experience as an Emergency or Hospitalist Veterinarian prior to their application with Pet+ER. We are interested in candidates who are collaborative, friendly, and compassionate. We have an amazing team of CSR's, Assistants, and Technicians that will support your efforts in providing the best treatment and care to our patients and clients.


The Veterinary Hospitalist will work directly with our emergency and critical care team. Their primary responsibility will be to receive transfers from the emergency veterinarians that require hospitalization. Patients may be transferred the same day, the following day, or may be discharged by hospitalist on the following day. Secondary responsibility would include receiving minor follow-up appointments that come through as “same day emergencies,” as well as low acuity emergencies (i.e., urgent care). The schedule will include day and swing shits.


Our hospital operates under the oversight of our Medical Director, a boarded criticalist. Our state-of-the-art, brand-new facility is equipped to handle the specific needs of each patient. We have a comprehensive suite of equipment and services all under one roof to handle the most severe animal injuries and illnesses, including digital radiology, in-house lab, ICU, surgery suites, oxygen ward, isolation ward, and high-flow oxygen. Our facility is shared with board-certified specialists in:

  • Surgery
  • Dentistry 
  • Neurology 
  • Canine Rehabilitation
  • Internal Medicine
  • Oncology
  • Cardiology

We have a comprehensive suite of equipment and services all under one roof to handle the most severe animal injuries and illnesses, including:

  • Digital Radiology
  • In-House lab
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Surgery Suites with Ligasure
  • Oxygen ward 
  • Isolation ward
  • Around-the-clock care

We have a plentiful and interesting caseload, keeping all our staff engaged and providing many opportunities for employees to challenge themselves. Our compensation model is ProSal, with a base salary range of $140,000 to $185,000 with earning potential of $140,000 to $350,000 when factoring in production.
