Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate and organized Veterinary Receptionist who will join our pet care team. You will work at the front desk greeting, welcoming, and checking in the customers with their pets. Your other duties and tasks include answering the phone and emails, scheduling appointments and consultations, processing payments, and maintaining and updating patients’ records. You will also monitor the availability of items for sale, and answer customers’ questions and concerns.

Our preferable Veterinary Receptionist should have amazing customer service and communication skills. While communicating with customers, answering their questions, and assisting them with their medication and supply purchase, you need to show that you can be trusted and maintain a professional and engaging relationship. An exceptional Veterinary Receptionist should also be understanding, well-organized, and a team player.

Veterinary Receptionist Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome customers and their pets into the vet clinic or hospital
  • Check in the customers
  • Inform the veterinarian assistants about the arrival of patients
  • Maintain, update, and file patients’ charts and records
  • Answer phone calls and emails
  • Schedule appointments, consultations, and surgical procedures
  • Receive and process payments
  • Issue/email invoices for services
  • Explain medications prescribed and use if needed
  • Monitor the availability of items and supplies for sale
  • Answer the customers’ questions and concerns
  • Assist with purchase of pet food, supplements, and medical supplies
  • Ensure that customers and their pets are seated comfortably in the waiting room
  • Maintain the waiting room and front desk area clean and organized

Veterinary Receptionist Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED *preferred*
  • Veterinary technician certification *preferred*
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary procedures, medication, and terminology
  • Desirable previous experience as a Veterinary Receptionist or similar role
  • Compassion and understanding
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills *Required*
  • Organizational skills
  • The base hourly range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
