Are you looking for a veterinary student externship in a multi-specialty hospital whose team will welcome you with open arms? Look no further than Mission Veterinary Emergency and Specialty in Mission, Kansas. We offer flexible externship opportunities in all hospital areas and strive to include students in interesting cases.
Program Overview:
You can fully customize your MVES externship to your interests and academic needs. We accommodate students in two- to eight-week rotation blocks in the department of your choice that will anchor your experience, but allow you to spend time on other services and go where the cases take you. When you enter the program, we will design an experience that includes time in our sister hospital in Overland Park and participation in rounds with our rotating interns. All veterinary student levels are welcomed. Possible concentration areas include:
Emergency
Critical care
Surgery
Internal medicine
Oncology
Cardiology
Anesthesia and pain management
Neurology

Our team actively seeks out students to participate in interesting cases, regardless of their chosen concentration, and our clinicians allow full case management participation tailored to their academic year. Any given day in our facility, you’ll see ultrasound examinations, CT scans, minimally invasive and advanced surgical techniques, and a flurry of activity in the ICU. And, once you’ve joined the MVES team, you’ll always be welcomed back at any stage in your veterinary career.
