Job Description

Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) is proud to offer 2-week and 4-week clinical rotations to third and fourth year veterinary students. Students work three 12-hour shifts partnered with an emergency veterinarian. Students will see emergency cases as well as an opportunity to spend time with our board certified Internist and Surgeons. Completed evaluation forms will be provided by accredited veterinary schools so that students can receive academic credit for their time at VESH.


We are currently accepting applications for 2023 and 2024.


When are Rotations Offered? We typically schedule rotations from the fall through the early spring of 4th year.


Does VESH provide housing for Externs? While VESH cannot provide housing for externs, we do offer a $1,000 stipend for clinical-year externships. Visiting students are responsible for finding their own housing. 


Eligibility: This Externship is open to third and fourth-year veterinary students attending an Accredited Veterinary School. We give priority to students who are likely to pursue careers in emergency medicine and are considering moving to Western Massachusetts region after graduation.

1) A resume or CV. Please include your expected date of graduation from veterinary

school.

2) A statement about why you would like to do a clinical rotation at VESH. Please include your areas of interest in veterinary medicine – i.e. surgery, emergency, etc.

3) Potential dates for your externship.

4) Please let us know if your school has a deadline by which you need to know if we have availability.
