Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Greywolf Veterinary Hospital

Job Description

Greywolf Veterinary Hospital is a full-service hospital companion and exotic animal hospital. We have a dedicated and dynamic companion animal team and a specialty team for exotics, wildlife, and marine mammals. We are located on the Olympic peninsula 15 minutes from the Puget Sound. The peninsula boasts natural beauty, a friendly, pet-focused community in an affordable area for starting out.

We are a multi-DVM practice with a range of experience and specialties. We offer full-service dentistry, surgery, ultrasound, and digital radiology. We offer a patient-centric practice with a strong focus on work-life balance while practicing gold-standard medicine in an exciting and uplifting environment.

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. As the dedicated provider for USFWS and NOAA comes a unique opportunity to learn, interact, and treat these unique cases. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients including training on veterinary software, managing health care plans, and on-site pharmacy. Come learn with us!

Most externship experiences at Greywolf Veterinary Hospital range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view list of stipend amounts and HERE for details on the stipend program.
