As a Registered Veterinary Technician at Oak Animal Hospital, you will be an integral part of our team. Your role is essential in delivering exceptional care to our animal patients and ensuring the efficient operation of the clinic. You will play a key role in supporting our veterinarians and staff, all while providing top-tier medical care to our patients.

·         Animal Care: Ability to provide compassionate and knowledgeable care to a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, and exotic species.

·         Medical Knowledge: Proficiency in animal anatomy, physiology, and common veterinary medical procedures.

·         Surgical Assistance: Experience and competence in assisting with surgical procedures, including preparation, monitoring, instrument care and post-operative care.

·         Pharmacy: Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, dosage calculations, and the ability to accurately dispense medications and educate pet owners on their administration.

·         Laboratory Skills: Proficiency in running diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and performing various lab procedures such as bloodwork and urinalysis.

·         Radiology: Familiarity with X-ray and other imaging equipment, safety, as well as the ability to position animals for imaging.

·         Dental Procedures: Competence in dental charting, prophylaxis, scaling, polishing and extractions.

·         Anesthesia Monitoring: Skill in administering and monitoring anesthesia during surgical procedures.

·         Patient Handling: Proficiency in safely and gently handling animals, including restraint and restraint techniques for low-stress handling.

·         Client Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively educate and support pet owners, including discussing treatment plans and financial estimates.

·         Record Keeping: Accurate and organized record-keeping skills, including patient charts, medication logs, and client communication records.

·         Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians, other RVTs, veterinary assistants, and support staff.

·         Time Management: Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment.

·         Compliance with Laws and Regulations: Thorough understanding of and adherence to California's veterinary laws and regulations with reference to licensure.

·         Compassion and Empathy: A genuine love for animals and a compassionate approach toward their care and well-being.

·         Problem Solving: Ability to think critically, make sound decisions, and adapt to changing circumstances.

·         Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to ensure the accuracy and safety of all procedures and treatments.

Our pay scale for this position is $22 - $26/ hour with opportunities to grow!
