We are looking for a Surgical Veterinary Technician with at least 3 years of Surgery experience to join our surgery team!

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, dependable, enthusiastic professional with veterinary surgical experience to join our highly qualified team as a full-time technician, looking to expand and develop your career.

Our seven doctor AAHA accredited hospital offers high-quality veterinary services in a modern facility, with in house diagnostics, lab, pharmacy, digital x-ray, laser, and much more! We routinely do a variety of soft-tissue and abdominal surgeries, dental cleanings (with full mouth radiographs and surgical extractions), and orthopedic surgeries. Our thriving practice is well established with a dedicated clientele. We recognize the importance of the relationships between humans and animals and we see our clients and patients as extended family. Our hospital focuses on quality, preventive medicine and comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care, in-house laboratory, pain management services, 24-hour nursing care and various boarding options for our fluffy feline friends.

The ideal candidate must have a great work ethic, possess strong customer service skills, be self-motivated, detail focused, observant, and team focused. A great sense of humor is always welcome as we love to have fun while we work! LVT, CVT or RVT is preferred but not mandatory.

Tasks include:

  • Ability to demonstrate and follow correct procedures in catheter placement, phlebotomy, medication administration, and digital radiology.
  • Monitoring patients and knowledge of general anesthesia.
  • Induction and recovery from general anesthesia.
  • Calculating drugs and discharge instructions.
  • Ability to follow and fill out treatment sheets accordingly.
  • Dental scaling and polishing, as well as performing dental radiographs.
  • Taking patient history, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging.
  • Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, drugs, and vaccines, and bandaging and wrapping wounds.
  • Supporting patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing and bringing patients to examination rooms, and restraining patients.
  • Filling prescriptions and administering medications, including proper documentation, logging and security of controlled drugs.
  • Maintaining a safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by following documented standards and procedures in compliance with applicable legal regulations.
  • Maintaining medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; updating database in an accurate and timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education, and/or experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience with veterinary appointments and surgical experience performing above duties.
  • Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires a lot of lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion.
  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
  • NOTE: Hourly wage dependent on experience.

The base hourly range for this position is $22-$30.  Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level and location.  The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
