Alamo Animal Hospital in Alamo is accepting resumes for an open receptionist position on our team. This position is open immediately and requires a strong affinity for working with the public as well as animals. We’re a 4 doctor small animal hospital with well-established clientelle and a team of professionals that love what we do! We practice high quality general medicine in a clean, easily accessible facility with modern equipment. Our staff is fun, friendly and works together as a stellar team, could you be our newest star?

Required skills include but are not exclusive to:

  • Ability to show compassion and kindness to all you meet at all times

  • Ability to manage multiple phone lines

  • Strong computer and multi-tasking skills

  • Honest and accurate money-handling and exchange

  • Ability to effectively handle both busy, stressful situations and slow, tedious situations, as you will be faced with both on a daily basis and be required to remain productive in both.

Some of the tasks that are expected of our receptionists include:

  • Providing excellent and expeditious client experience
  • Greeting clients, responding to questions; processing incoming and outgoing pets, and handling payments.
  • Answering phone calls, which may involve answering questions, screening for service needs, and scheduling appointments.
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail and e-mail.
  • Escorting clients and patients into exam rooms as well as taking a patient weight
  • Checking surgery and drop-off patients into the hospital 
  • Monitoring client waiting area to ensure cleanliness.
  • Taking prescription refill orders from clients and on-line
  • Filling all prescriptions and calling in prescriptions to pharmacies
  • Documenting and maintaining client information, service data and other pertinent information within business operations software.
  • Escalating complex matters to senior staff. 
  • Enjoying the human/animal bond and interactions
  • Enjoying what you do and having fun!

Ability to work opening/closing shifts, work Saturdays and flexibility with your schedule are required. We are open 8:00 am to 6:00 pm M-F and 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturdays. We are closed on Sunday.

The base hourly wage for this position is $19-$21, depending on experience. Medical, dental, vision, as well as a 401 (k) program are just some of the benefits that we can offer. Of course we have a very generous employee pet discount as well.
