Job Description
IndyVet Emergency and Specialty Hospital is seeking veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for our 12-month/1-year training and mentorship program. We are looking for individuals who are team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable.
The Ethos ER Immerse Training Program
The ER Immerse Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. Built from the ground up to be different than traditional rotating internship programs, the ERi program has been developed around a curriculum of core competencies essential for an emergency veterinarian. In addition to providing training around clinical knowledge and skills, the program also includes a focus on client and team member communication, professional skills, and life/work integration.
The ER Immerse program utilizes a hybrid training approach incorporating simulation-based didactic components into authentic training experiences with live patients. The curriculum is designed using an evidence-based strategy identifying competencies and skills deemed essential for a successful career as an emergency clinician.
Program Duration/Commitment
· 12-month training program beginning June 2025
· 1-year commitment as an ER clinician at an Ethos hospital following training
Location
· IndyVet Emergency & Specialty Hospital – 5425 Victory Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46203
Program Highlights
· Paired with an experienced Emergency Veterinarian or Criticalist
· Rotate with other specialty services during the training program; ER, Critical Care, Oncology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Anesthesia and Ophthalmology
· Surgical training
· Always work with a dedicated mentor on shifts
· 1st quarter of training: 20% problem-based learning, 25% didactic, built-in study time, case reviews, PBL Rounds: M, W and F
· 2nd half of first year: You will be on a 2 on/3off, 3 on/2 off schedule with every-other weekend, mainly on the swing schedule with primary case responsibilities
· Last quarter of year 1: Consistent 10 shifts per month, block of 8 days off every 2 weeks, on the floor as an ER doctor and reviewing cases with your mentorship leader
· Competency-based curriculum that includes asynchronous learning on Vetbloom and weekly live virtual didactic rounds
· Regular live continuing education events led by specialists and experienced emergency doctors
