Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to our animal patients and their owners. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal welfare and veterinary medicine.

Duties:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing medical care to animals
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Monitor vital signs of animals and report any abnormalities to the veterinarian
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical suites for procedures
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments
- Aid in performing basic laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis
- Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
- Provide post-operative care to animals recovering from surgery
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and procedures

- Answer phones

-Help owners with their pets

-Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments/equipment

Qualifications:

· Must be 18yrs old or older

· Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.

· Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.

· Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.

 Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

- Must have reliable transportation

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Should be able to lift 40lbs on own.

. Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position.

. Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
