Job Description

Huffard Animal Hospital in Pasadena, MD is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team! Your responsibilities may include:

·         -Obtain and convey accurate medical history to veterinarians

·         -Maintain accurate medical records using ImproMed Infinity software program

·         -Assist our veterinarians and your coworkers in all aspects of patient care, including but not limited to: basic animal husbandry (walks, feeding, medication administration, cleaning), exam room assistance, obtaining vitals, preparing and administering routine vaccinations, patient restraint, fulfilling pharmacy requests, nursing care to hospitalized patients, client communication and education

·         -Venipuncture (jugular, femoral, cephalic, and saphenous veins)

·         -Completing in-house lab work, preparing samples for submission to reference labs

·         -Proper placement of IV catheters

·         -Preparing and monitoring patients for surgeries and dental cleanings

·         -Performing ear cleanings, bathing, anal gland expression, nail trimming

·         -Assisting with cleaning and maintenance of the hospital and equipment

 

Minimum qualifications:

·         -High school diploma or equivalent

·         -2+ years small animal vet technician experience

·         -Strong communication skills

·         -Team player attitude

·         -Knowledge of basic veterinary medical terminology and anatomy

·         -Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time

·         -Schedule flexibility to accommodate day and evening shifts as well as alternating weekends and holidays
