At Prestige Animal Clinic, we pride ourselves on delivering the utmost compassionate care to our furry friends and their loving paw-rents.  Our clinic is committed to providing care at the highest level of standards to our patients and pets in the community through softheartedness, dedication and education.  With the clinic hours being Monday through Friday, no extended evening hours and not currently open on the weekends, the team here at Prestige Animal Clinic is focused on maintaining a healthy work-life balance. 

 

Technician Job Responsibilities and Skills: The Veterinary Technician is the Veterinarian's primary medical support. You will assist the doctor throughout the examination, diagnosis, and treatment phases of appointments. You will aid the Veterinarians in achieving higher efficiency by relieving them of technical work and administrative detail.  You will have a significant role in communicating with and educating clients about their pet's medical needs and wellbeing.

·         Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol

·         Support veterinarians in procedures using accurate restraint; know how to restrain fractious patients

·         Maintain and use equipment such as IDEXX Procyte/CatalystOne and autoclave

·         Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology

·         Prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis

·         Coordinate treatments and injections following the instructions of a doctor or a treatment form

·         Initiate emergency procedures; triage patients

·         Maintain pharmacy records, and controlled drug, anesthesia logs

·         Take radiographs, with knowledge of accurate positioning and techniques

·         Take vital signs including temperature, pulse, and respiration

·         Perform and analyze skin and ear cytology’s

·         Perform catheterization- venous

·         Complete anal gland expression, ear cleanings, and nail trims

·         Assist in maintaining and preparing records, consent forms, other documents

·         Support our other team members as needed

·         Perform necessary cleaning duties in between clients and as needed

 

Qualifications:

·         At least 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician is required

·         Demonstrates passion for patient care, client service and team development

·         Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

·         Team player that is able to work independently to meet goals and objectives

·         Strong commitment to ethics and integrity

·         Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and continuous learning

·         Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

·         Must efficiently be able to read, speak and write English

·         Must have intermediate literacy skills

·         Be able to handle multiple unrelated tasks simultaneously

The base hourly range for this position is $17.00-19.00.  Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, experience, and location.  The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
