Position Overview: As a Veterinary Assistant at Gandy Animal Hospital, you’ll play a crucial role in the daily support of our team, helping provide exceptional patient and client care across every department.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care, treatment, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Monitor and care for hospitalized pets and aid in their recovery after surgery.
  • Restrain animals for exams, blood draws, and nail trims.
  • Assist with radiographs, in-house lab work, and basic diagnostics.
  • Maintain surgical instruments and ensure exam and treatment areas are clean and sanitized.
  • Administer medications under veterinary or technician supervision.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answer client inquiries, and support clients with pet care guidance.
  • Help with feeding, bathing, and maintaining a comforting environment for all animals in our care.
  • Manage inventory and ensure proper stocking of supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A true animal enthusiast who can remain calm and professional with stressed, ill, or injured pets.
  • Previous experience (1+ years) in a veterinary setting is preferred but not required.
  • Physically able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and comfortable standing or walking for extended periods.
  • Experience working within a team-oriented hospital setting.
