New Graduate Position - Veterinary Intern to Junior Associate

Job Summary: This position is tailored for recent graduates from accredited veterinary schools who are eligible for MA and RI licensure. As a new graduate, you will receive extensive mentorship and training to develop skills in patient care, client management, and equine medicine. This role offers a progressive path to independence, enabling you to build technical competence, improve case management, and grow your earning potential.
Training & Mentorship Plan:
First 160 days:
- Always paired with an associate veterinarian
- Heavily mentored to learn practice philosophy and decision-making processes.
- Meet clients and become familiar with our level of care.
- Participate in emergency cases (paid a percentage of fees when not paired).
Next 4 months to 1 year:
- Manage your own appointments 1-2 days per week, paired with an associate 3 days per week.
- Handle urgent and emergency calls independently, with a back-up clinician available (paid a percentage of emergency fees).
- Conduct routine preventative care, sick calls, emergencies, and lameness evaluations.
1 year to 2 years:
- Function as a junior associate, with similar job duties to an associate veterinarian
- Manage your own appointments 4 days per week
- Handle urgent and emergency calls independently

Compensation & Benefits:
- Year 1: $45,000 base salary plus emergency fees.
- After Year 1: Salary increases to $65,000 plus emergency fees and commission.
- Retention bonus of $10,000 after two years.
- Production-based compensation: Earn a percentage of revenue exceeding 23% of your salary.
- Additional Benefits:
- $1,100 monthly housing stipend or housing provided.

- Continuing education expenses up to $2,500 and 4 days paid CE leave.
- Professional organization dues (e.g., AAEP, AVMA).
- State and DEA veterinary licenses.

Caseload and Workload:
- Case Types:
- 40% performance horse evaluations (H/J, eventing, dressage).
- 30% preventative care/internal medicine.
- 20% general ambulatory cases.
- 5% reproductive (seasonal).
- 5% emergency (no colic surgery).
- Weekly Schedule:
- Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm - full days of ambulatory care
- Emergency Coverage:
- Shared rotation: 1-2 nights per week and 1-2 weekends per month.
- Supervision:
- Heavy mentorship and supervision initially.
- Gradual transition to independent case management and emergency coverage.
- Weekly rounds (Thursdays) and monthly team meetings.
Prerequisites:
· Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
· Passed NAVLE.
· Eligible for MA and RI veterinary license.
· Valid driver’s license.
