Full-Time Veterinary Technician/Assistant


Forest Hill Animal Hospital is seeking a responsible and outgoing individual who loves working with dogs and cats to join our technician team.

 

Job Description:

  • Prep and assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures.
  • Perform laboratory tests and radiographs.
  • Operate and maintain hospital equipment such as IV pumps, EKG, scales, laboratory machines, and anesthetic monitors.
  • Assist the veterinarian in anesthetizing animals and monitoring them during surgeries.
  • Properly restrain and handle animals of all sizes and temperaments.
  • Fill prescriptions and administer medications.
  • Perform venipuncture (cephalic and jugular) and place IV and urinary catheters.
  • Interact with clients and animals while collecting medical information.
  • Maintain cleanliness in exam rooms and cages after each patient.
  • Ensure a clean and sanitary surgery area and equipment.
  • Approach job duties in a mature, professional manner.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to handle animals of all sizes and temperaments in a calm and professional manner.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and stand on your feet for extended periods (10-hour shifts) in a labor-intensive environment.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, patience, and effective communication skills.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays (no exceptions).
  • Degree or certification is not required; work experience preferred but not required (we will train).
  • Must be 18 years or older.
