Veterinary Assistant Opening

We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! This position helps care for animals and supports our Veterinarians with examinations. Veterinary experience preferred but not necessary, we will train the right person! Additionally, if you happen to be a certified veterinary technician looking to join a new clinic, we welcome your application too.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 Assists veterinarians and techs with office visits and exams including but not limited to: pet restraint, taking x-rays, intake and discharge of patients, collecting medical history, assisting with follow up instructions, and soothing upset or frightened animals.

 Takes care of everyday needs for hospitalized pets in the clinic and helps in cases of emergencies.

Maintains clinic’s tidy, clean and sanitary conditions including cleaning cages, sterilizing equipment, cleaning examination tables, and clinic facilities.

Service excellence to address needs of clients and clinic staff.

Client education & services.

Rotating scheduled shifts at the front desk, duties including but not limited to: answering phones on a multi-line phone system, scheduling appointments, handling check ins and outs, and manage cash, check and credit card payments from clients.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

         Experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar position working with animals preferred.

       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

         Compassion for animals (and their humans).

      Ability to meet the physical demands of the job: lift up to approximately 50 pounds and walk dogs of up to 130 pounds, without assistance.

      Comfortable being around and handling animals.

       Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team.

       Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook experience preferred).

      Attention to detail.

     High school diploma; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus.

 

Schedule:

         Full time employment; includes 2 scheduled Saturdays per 4-week period.

Compensation and Benefits:

         Full-time benefits package, including medical, dental, 401(k), and Paid Time off.

         Hourly rate based on experience.
