Veterinary Medical Oncologist

AVIM&O - Annapolis

Job Description

Atlantic Veterinary Internal Medicine & Oncology (AVIM&O) – located in beautiful, historic Annapolis, Maryland – is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Medical Oncologist to join our thriving specialty practice.

Our mission is to deliver the highest level of veterinary medical care with empathy, compassion, and collaboration — both with our clients and our referring veterinarians.

Why Join AVIM&O?

At AVIM&O, you’ll enjoy a four-day, set-schedule work week supported by a highly skilled and dedicated and experienced oncology technician team. Our doctors do not see new cases or transfers on weekends, allowing for a healthy work–life balance.

Founded in 1992, AVIM&O is a proud member of the Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC) — an integrated specialty hospital featuring specialists in surgery, cardiology, neurology, advanced imaging, ophthalmology, radiation oncology, emergency medicine, and a 24/7 ICU. Our practice also includes a second location in Hunt Valley, MD, and is supported by Ethos Veterinary Health.

Our Facility

Our 28,000-square-foot hospital is fully equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, including:

  • Dedicated chemotherapy preparation and administration spaces, equipped with an anteroom
  • Olympus 190 series video endoscopes and multiple rigid scopes
  • Phillips EPIQ5 ultrasound systems
  • I-Stat and Heska Lacuna digital cytology
  • Digital radiography and benchtop lab systems
  • Advanced monitoring capabilities
  • 32-slice CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI

Our Culture

We take great pride in fostering a supportive, collaborative, and educational environment. Our team values interactive morning rounds, engaging journal clubs, monthly lunch-and-learn sessions, and cross-specialty case discussions. We are dedicated to mentoring veterinary students, ER mentees, and specialty interns—and, as of Fall 2025, we are proud to have welcomed our first Internal Medicine Resident. Additionally, AVIM&O has expanded its expertise by hiring a board-certified radiologist to further support our patients and specialists. We remain committed to advancing professional development opportunities and continually enhancing our hospital.

At AVIM&O, teamwork isn’t just a value — it’s our foundation. Collaboration across specialties is central to our approach to patient care.
