Metairie Small Animal Hospital is a full‑service veterinary hospital committed to exceptional patient care, strong teamwork, and continuous professional growth. We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician Floater who enjoys variety, adaptability, and supporting multiple areas of hospital operations.

The Veterinary Technician Floater plays a vital role by providing skilled technical support across multiple departments, including General Practice, Surgery, Emergency, and Hospitalized Patient Care. This position is ideal for technicians who are flexible, proactive, and confident stepping in where support is most needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support across various departments based on daily hospital needs
  • Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory testing, and medication administration
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures as required
  • Care for hospitalized patients, including treatment, monitoring, and documentation
  • Support ER and urgent care cases during peak times or staffing shortages
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment sheets
  • Uphold hospital protocols, patient safety, and cleanliness standards
