Job Summary:
Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Vice President of Operations to lead operations in our West region, encompassing 75 hospitals, 5,000+ team members, and over $1 billion in revenue. This role is pivotal in partnering with cross-functional leaders to drive innovation, implement transformative initiatives, and build scalable operations that support a “One Ethos” culture while preserving each hospital’s local identity.
The Vice President of Operations will lead eight regional divisions with geographically dispersed teams, serving as a catalyst for performance, cultural alignment, and sustainable growth. This leader will partner closely with hospital leaders, corporate teams, and support functions to drive shared priorities, streamline operational processes, and deliver exceptional patient and client experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Foster strong, trust-based partnerships with corporate departments (e.g., HR, Finance, Clinical Services, Marketing) to align strategic goals, leverage resources effectively, and drive system-wide innovation.
- Change Leadership: Partner with Division Leaders, Medical Directors, and Hospital Directors to lead through change, enable adoption of best practices, and ensure successful implementation of new initiatives across diverse environments.
- Innovative Growth: Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Proactively identify and pilot creative operational strategies that elevate clinical care, client experience, and team engagement.
- Field Engagement: Maintain a strong and consistent field presence, building meaningful relationships with hospital teams to stay closely attuned to their opportunities and challenges.
- Strategic Operations: Own full P&L responsibility for the region. Design and deploy operational plans that align with Ethos’ mission and long-term strategy, tracking and adjusting for results-driven impact.
- Performance Management: Support and develop high-performing field operations teams. Establish clear metrics, monitor performance, and coach leaders toward excellence and accountability.
- Cultural Stewardship: Integrate hospital cultures with the “One Ethos” vision while respecting the individuality of each practice. Foster an inclusive environment where innovation, collaboration, and professional development thrive.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 15+ years of senior leadership experience in multi-site healthcare, veterinary, retail, or service-based environments.
- A proven track record of building cross-functional alliances and influencing change in decentralized organizations.
- Strong business and financial acumen with deep understanding of growth levers, operations, and performance management.
- Ability to translate vision into action, balancing long-term strategy with near-term execution.
- A compelling communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills—able to engage diverse clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Demonstrated change agent who brings a blend of analytical thinking and creative problem-solving to complex challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Must be open to heavy travel.
- Must be centrally located in the US, ideally in pacific or mountain time zone.
The base salary range for this full-time position is up to $290,000. Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
