About the Role

The Regional Leader is responsible for driving operational performance, team development, guest experience, and financial results across an assigned region of pet resorts. This role typically oversees 4–5 Market Leaders and approximately 35–40 resorts, depending on business needs and market structure.

As a key field leadership role, the Regional Leader partners closely with our Market Leaders to ensure consistent execution across resort operations, local marketing, staffing, leadership development, financial performance, and company standards. This individual is accountable for building strong teams, improving operational consistency, supporting profitable growth, and ensuring each market delivers a high-quality experience for pets, pet parents, and team members.

National Veterinary Associates is one of the largest owners and operators of freestanding veterinary hospitals and pet resorts in North America, with a broad network of companion animal hospitals and pet resort locations.

NVA’s Pet Resorts business continues to grow through acquisition, new resort development, and same-resort growth initiatives. The pet care industry continues to benefit from strong consumer demand, including the continued humanization of pets and increased interest in premium pet care, boarding, daycare, grooming, and related services.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Operations Leadership

  • Lead and support consistent operational execution across all assigned resorts.
  • Partner with Market Leaders to drive strong performance in guest experience, resort operations, labor scheduling, inventory management, resort marketing, and profit and loss management.
  • Ensure company initiatives are implemented effectively by partnering with Market Leaders on action plans, timelines, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Monitor regional performance, operational reports, and market trends to identify opportunities, address concerns, and implement practical solutions.
  • Share best practices across markets and provide regular feedback, insights, and recommendations to the Division Leader.
  • Ensure assigned markets operate in alignment with company policies, procedures, standards, and expectations.
  • Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Financial and Business Performance

  • Partner with the Division Leader and Market Leaders to establish regional priorities, budget expectations, and performance goals.
  • Develop and execute regional strategies that support revenue growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and budget achievement.
  • Monitor regional P&L performance, including expenses versus annual budget, variance analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Own financial performance across the region, including pricing recommendations, lease considerations, capital expenditure recommendations, and operational profitability.
  • Ensure Market Leaders have clear marketing plans in place and follow up on execution of both corporate and local marketing initiatives.
  • Recommend and approve resorts for participation in performance improvement programs, including Hot Spot enrollment and graduation, in partnership with the Division Leader.
  • Lead transition planning for newly acquired resorts and support opening strategies for new resort builds.

Team Leadership and Talent Development

  • Lead the selection, development, coaching, and performance management of Market Leaders and General Managers.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to Market Leaders to strengthen leadership capability, operational execution, and business ownership.
  • Partner with Market Leaders to set personal development goals and support career progression.
  • Build and maintain regional succession plans by assessing internal talent, identifying development opportunities, and supporting recruiting efforts.
  • Foster a positive and accountable team environment by recognizing individual, team, and resort accomplishments.
  • Challenge, inspire, and support resort leadership teams in achieving business goals and operational excellence.
  • Coach Market Leaders on recruiting, staffing, team development, performance management, retention, and succession planning.
  • Lead with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to company culture, values, and standards.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven ability to achieve results through the leadership, coaching, and management of others.
  • Strong ability to lead through influence while effectively partnering with senior leaders, cross-functional partners, and field teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop multi-unit leaders and resort management teams.
  • Strong business planning, delegation, accountability, and communication skills across a geographically dispersed portfolio.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, competing deadlines, and a dynamic field-based operating environment.
  • Experience with hiring, staffing, training, and ongoing management of diverse teams.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance-related areas, including employee safety, OSHA, wage and hour, immigration, and related employment practices.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment and travel up to 50–75% of the time.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of Multi-Unit experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, pet care, or a related service-based business.
  • Experience leading multi-unit initiatives or supporting multiple locations.
  • Experience managing teams with full P&L responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Travel: 50%-75%

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $125,000 Base, plus annual bonus potential. + equity shares and is based on applicable experience.
