SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to lead the governance, strategy, and lifecycle management of IT asset and configuration data within ServiceNow, serving as the enterprise system of record across all lines of business.


This role operates with enterprise accountability, responsible for defining standards, driving cross-functional alignment, and ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and sustainability. The incumbent partners with infrastructure, endpoint, cloud, procurement, and service teams to enable consistent data practices and ownership across the organization.


Success in this role requires strong independent judgment, the ability to influence across teams, and a focus on scalable governance and long-term data integrity.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The IT Asset Manager is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:


IT Asset Management (ServiceNow)

  • Own governance of IT asset data across the full lifecycle (request through retirement)
  • Define standards for asset data, lifecycle states, ownership, and required attributes
  • Ensure alignment and integrity between asset records and configuration items (CIs)
  • Partner with procurement, finance, and IT to support compliance, financial accuracy, and audit readiness
  • Deliver reporting on asset inventory, lifecycle health, and compliance metrics

CMDB Governance & Data Quality

  • Own CMDB governance aligned with ITIL and CSDM best practices
  • Define and enforce CI structures, naming conventions, lifecycle states, and relationship standards
  • Monitor CMDB health and establish data quality KPIs using ServiceNow capabilities
  • Identify systemic data gaps and drive remediation through accountable teams
  • Ensure CMDB data supports Incident, Change, Problem, and ITOM processes

Enterprise Enablement & SME Guidance

  • Serve as the enterprise SME for ServiceNow Asset and CMDB practices
  • Guide infrastructure, endpoint, and cloud teams on data modeling and lifecycle alignment
  • Promote adoption of out-of-the-box ServiceNow capabilities to improve scalability
  • Develop standards, documentation, and playbooks to drive consistency

Automation & Platform Enablement

  • Define requirements for automation and integrations that improve data quality and sustainability
  • Partner with ServiceNow platform teams to influence solution design and implementation
  • Provide advisory support on discovery and data population approaches
  • Identify trends and drive continuous improvement through automation and governance

Governance & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Establish clear ownership and accountability for asset and CMDB data across teams
  • Serve as an escalation point for governance and compliance issues
  • Participate in governance forums related to data model changes, integrations, and platform strategy
  • Promote ServiceNow as the authoritative system of record through consistent governance practices

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Asset Management, CMDB, ITSM, or related disciplines
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Asset Management and CMDB
  • Strong understanding of ITIL and configuration management practices
  • Experience driving cross-functional alignment and governance
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder influence skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, IT, or related field
  • ServiceNow System Administrator certification
  • Familiarity with CSDM and enterprise CMDB frameworks
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance, or data governance programs
  • Experience in large, complex IT environments

FLSA Classification: Exempt

The base salary range for this full-time position is $98,500-$129,000 annually. Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
