Mentorship & Leadership Development:

  • Work alongside an experienced part-time locum surgeon who is eager to mentor and support you as you expand and shape our surgical service.

State-of-the-Art Surgical & Diagnostic Equipment:

  • Two fully equipped surgical suites with brand-new surgical lights.
  • Ligasure for precise tissue sealing and hemostasis.
  • Arthrex orthopedic equipment, along with double sets of drills and saws to support simultaneous orthopedic surgeries.
  • Stryker laparoscopic tower for minimally invasive procedures.
  • New 36-slice GE CT scanner for advanced imaging.
  • Open to investing in fluoroscopy equipment as needed.

Comprehensive In-House Laboratory & Anesthesia Capabilities:

  • Full in-house laboratory featuring:
    • Blood gas analysis
    • iSTAT Alinity
    • VMC thromboelastography unit
    • Multiple IDEXX ProCyte and Catalyst units for rapid diagnostics.
  • Advanced anesthesia support, including:
    • Anesthesia ventilators for optimized patient care.
    • All-new anesthesia monitors with EtO₂ monitoring for enhanced safety.

Specialty & ER Support:

  • Board-certified and residency-trained criticalists on staff, providing exceptional case management.
  • Internal medicine specialists for seamless interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • A skilled and engaged ER team that is comfortable handling emergency surgeries and post-op care.

Commitment to Learning & Education:

  • Small animal rotating internship program offered since 2006, providing comprehensive training for future specialists and emergency veterinarians.
  • Ongoing veterinary student externship program in collaboration with veterinary colleges and universities.
  • Support for community veterinarians through continuing education events and active participation in local CVM organizations.
