Upper Canada Animal Hospital is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join our 4 DVM, AAHA accredited, Fear Free Certified team!


Upper Canada Animal Hospital, located in beautiful Niagara On The Lake,  is a companion animall general practice with a family oriented team which has a strong focus on great culture and work-life balance. We are pleased to offer 35-hour work weeks, no on-call, no Sundays, and only one Saturday shift every three weeks from 8-12! Our team enjoys a one-hour lunch break, daily emergency blocks, and an additional hour per day for notes and calls.


Recently renovated; we have three exam rooms, two surgical suites, and a dental suite. We offer ultrasounds, digital standard and dental radiography, as well as a variety of surgeries. We support emergencies while the facility is open, and work with Niagara Veterinary Emergency Clinic for after-hours care. With a strong focus on Fear-Free patient care, we are pleased to provide complimentary Gabapentin and Trazodone for patients upcoming appointments and surgeries.


Upper Canada Animal Hospital has a very compassionate team to support you, including 6 RVT’s. We are happy to provide mentorship and are open to new grad applicants.


We have an exceptional clientele and know most by first name.  We build relationships and friendships.  Client compliance is seldom a concern, we offer payment plans as needed, and fortunately the need for euthanasia due to finances is close to zero.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to and empathizing with their concerns.
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures that deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort. 
  • Communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs.
  • Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols.
  • Stays current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.
  • Presents a positive image of the hospital in the professional community and to the public.


Skills and Basic Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university. 
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in Canada.
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics.
