Description & Requirements

Westhills Veterinary Clinic in SW Calgary, is looking for an experienced veterinary receptionist who comes to work with a smile on their face, makes a great first impression with our clients, and wants to make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners.

Ideally, you want to build relationships with clients, as well as have exceptional organizational and clerical skills, combined with accuracy and your attention to detail is a must.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Veterinary office experience in a clinic setting is preferred
  • Completion of VOA Certification preferred

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Answer phone calls, which may involve answering questions, screening and scheduling appointments
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and email
  • Update and file patient charts
  • Make follow up calls
  • Answer basic questions both in person and during client phone inquiries
  • Ability to complete daily tasks
  • Handle a busy switchboard of incoming calls
  • Keep your work area clean and organized
  • Assist with pet supply purchases, such as pet food, supplements, and grooming items and process credit card payments
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance of examination rooms in between appointments as well as maintain the cleanliness of the waiting room
  • Work independently as well as collaborate with fellow colleagues
  • Comfortable talking to owners through sensitive conversations
  • Retrieve prescriptions
  • Ability to triage pets.
  • Experience handling animals to assist the Veterinarians and Technicians.

In addition to providing excellent customer service to clients and ensuring that front desk operations run smoothly, the receptionist acts as the primary greeter when a client enters the waiting room with their pet, alerts the appropriate technician or veterinarian to the client’s arrival, and processes the client’s payment at the conclusion of the appointment.

You are the first point of contact our clients have when visiting the clinic, and as such you should be calm and reassuring, with a tone and demeanor that can help a pet owner and a pet feel less nervous about their visit.

The successful candidate will be a reliable team player with excellent communication skills, and an individual who loves helping animals.

Must be available to work shifts that would include:

Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm

Saturday from 9am - 4pm.
