Description & Requirements

As NVA Canada’s Director of IT, you’ll be responsible for leading our technology function and team as we serve more than 130 veterinary hospitals across the country, providing remarkable technology support so that our hospital teams can focus on providing exceptional, accessible care to improve the lives of animals and the people who love them. You’ll oversee the design and implementation of infrastructure across our community of hospitals, and subsequently the ongoing management and support of that infrastructure. The Director of IT will lead a team of IT professionals, manage third party contractors, and partner with colleagues across NVA to effectively “build” and “support” our practices’ IT needs.

What You’ll Do:

·        Lead strategic IT planning, including establishing site standards (e.g., server, network, computers, telecom, back-ups) and developing a roadmap for implementation

·        Partner with our Operations team to qualify, prioritize, budget, plan, and provide progress updates for site projects, managing the ongoing execution of a master IT project pipeline

·        Manage a team of field service engineers and third-party contractors to deliver IT project pipeline, developing project management and pipeline management tools to ensure successful delivery

·        Establish relationships with preferred third-party contractors, vetting and negotiating on behalf of practices to execute projects, particularly in markets beyond the GTA

·        Manage a team of desktop support specialists providing day-to-day support to our hospital teams, driving process improvements and developing dashboards to ensure SLAs are met

·        Build tools and processes to ensure IT fulfills its obligations to our hospital and functional team partners (e.g., project completion, SLA achievement, capex and opex budgets, asset management)

·        Partner with relevant NVA US colleagues to ensure Canada’s service needs are met for support areas managed by NVA’s US IT team, as well as the successful roll-out of any enterprise IT initiatives that impact our Canada Support Centre or hospital teams

What Makes Someone a Good Fit?

·        10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, ideally in a multi-site environment, leading the implementation of infrastructure projects and the provision of day-to-day client support

·        Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in information technology, information systems, computer science or a related field of study

·        Experience developing and institutionalizing project management capability, leveraging PM tools and software, preferably with experience using SmartSheet

·        Experience developing and managing processes and activities that are executed through a workflow management system, preferably with experience using ServiceNow for ITSM

·        Prior experience in veterinary services or the healthcare industry is a plus

·        Occasional travel as needed to visit hospitals and meet with NVA US IT partners (<10%)
